Humaid Al Qatami, Minister of Education, has underlined that the UAE values the teaching profession and respects teachers, indicating that the leadership backs teachers and upgrades their societal status to match their message. The minister congratulated the teachers on their World Teachers' Day, which corresponds with Oct. 15, annually. He reiterated that President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Members of Supreme Council and Rules of Emirates and His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, take great interest in education. Al Qatami cited the promotion of 7, 782 teachers to achieve welfare, job stability and appreciate the role of teachers. The ministry issued a statement on the occasion, stating that the education field includes qualified and professional teachers entrusted with preparing better future generations. It added that the ministry always seeks to upgrade the skills of teachers to achieve excellence. World Teachers' Day, is held annually on October 5th since 1994. It was created by UNESCO and is annually celebrated by teachers worldwide. Its aim is to mobilise support for teachers, and to ensure that the needs of future generations will continue to be met by teachers. "Take a stand for teachers," is the slogan of World Teachers' Day 2012 (5 October), which UNESCO is celebrating along with its partners, the International Labour Organisation, UNDP, UNICEF and Education International (EI).
