Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Ahmad Al-Mulaifi said the legislative and executive authorities were paying a great attention to Sabah Al-Salem University City due to its "academic, scientific and development significance." Al-Mulaifi, speaking to reporters after visiting the construction site of the University City along with members of the Parliament's Education Committee, said the fact MPs were accompanying him in his visit "is an important incentive and encouragement to ending this vital project." He said Sabah Al-Salem University City will, once completed, be an added value to education and science in Kuwait. He said the government's development plans included the construction of public and private universities. "We are working on endorsing the government universities law which will make us flexible to establishing government universities" in order to contain the large number of graduates every year, he added. MP Humoud Al-Hamdan, the Education Committee Chairman, said Sabah Al-Salem University City was one of the major projects in the country. He said the committee members were keen on completing the project on time and would not allow any stalement. Kuwait University Rector Dr. Abdulateef Al-Bader said the infrastructure of the University City has been completed but the problem was with the red tape. Al-Bader expected the project to be fully completed by the year 2020. The University City will contain 40,000 students in different faculties.
