Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) will appoint 276 teachers from UAE and Arab countries to positions in public schools for the 2011/2012 school year, it announced in a statement on Monday.Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Adec’s executive director of School Operations Sector, said, “the recruitment plan for teaching and administrative staff gives priority to the appointment of UAE nationals. Adec seeks to attract qualified staff in order to effectively contribute to the implementation of its 10-year Strategic Plan aiming at developing the educational system in the Emirate.”He noted that Adec had announced vacancies last May and out of 8,000 applicants, only 600 met Adec requirements. Out of those, 276 were selected. The number of required teachers for the coming school year was defined based on the school merger plans carried out by Adec in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Gharbia and also based on the increasing teacher workload and feminisation, Al Dhaheri pointed out. He noted that from Arab countries, Adec advertised job opportunities for physical education teachers. From / Gulf Today
