TBS says it has ordered two more seasons of American Dad!, so fresh episodes of the animated comedy will continue to air on the cable television network through 2018.
Season 11, featuring 22 installments, is to debut in early 2016. Seasons 12 and 13 will also each include 22 episodes. Reruns of the show air on TBS' sister network Adult Swim after they premiere on TBS.
Created by Seth MacFarlane, Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman, American Dad! centers on "super-patriotic CIA agent Stan Smith and the misadventures of his unconventional family in Langley Falls, Va.," a synopsis said. The series features the voice talents of MacFarlane, Wendy Schaal, Rachel MacFarlane and Scott Grimes.
"American Dad! has thrived since coming to TBS and Adult Swim, demonstrating the Turner portfolio's ability to build enduring hits through a combination of smart programming, savvy promotion and extensive multiplatform distribution," Deborah Bradley, executive vice president of networks optimization and content commercialization for Turner Broadcasting, said in a statement Thursday. "We look forward to keeping the crazy-but-lovable Smith family around for a long time."
