Experts in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) member states meet in Jeddah tomorrow Saturday to discuss the establishment of a Jeddah-based OIC satellite channel. The experts will discuss the channel’s vision, mandate and who the audience would be. Essam Al-Shanti, OIC’s Media Relations Director, said in a statement quoted by Kuwait News Agency Friday the channel’s objectives would be to improve image of Islam, address Islamophobia and bridging gaps between civilizations. He said the channel would be telecasting in Arabic, English and French languages, the OIC’s three major languages. The channel, said Al-Shanti, would also deal with economic, commercial, cultural and media subjects, in addition to focusing on health care, education, science and technology.
