A group of Palestinian journalists have created a new Facebook page called Journalists for Peace, aiming to educate Western audiences about Palestinian culture and experiences, the Alray media agencyhas reported. Mohamed Waheid Awad, the head of the group, said it aims to spread knowledge about Palestinian culture and heritage to European countries in order to challenge popular misconceptions about Palestine and the Gaza Strip. Abdu Allah Shaheen, another Journalists for Peace founder, stressed Israel has presented Palestinians to the Western media as “the source of bloody aggressions” in occupied Palestine. "The group aims to mobilise support for the Palestinian cause following the principle of living in peace and rejecting violence in the Middle East," Abdu Allah Shaheen said. Journalists for Peace will hold activities, workshops and seminars to explain Palestinian culture to the Western community in order for them to understand what is happening on the ground. Journalists and activists alike have applauded the announcement.
