A UAE paper has said that heart-felt tributes for the 45 UAE soldiers who died in Yemen on Friday came pouring in from social media.
In an article published at Gulf News English-Language daily, the paper said, "Using the hashtag #Emirati_Martyrs_45, Tweeps shared expressions of solidarity, grief and deep sadness -- as well as pride at the soldiers' heroism -- even as thousands of Emiratis and residents crowded blood banks for donations to the injured soldiers on Saturday.
It went on to say, "Some said they felt as if they lost 45 brothers, while others said they were unable to sleep upon learning about the deaths.
"The Emirati martyrs died following a missile attack on their base, according to Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs," concluded the Dubai-based daily.
