Meghan Linsey surprised Blake Shelton on Monday's episode of The Voice.
The 29-year-old singer performed a blind audition of Nazareth hit "Love Hurts" on the NBC reality program's season 8 premiere. Linsey and Shelton previously toured together in 2011, but the country star failed to turn his chair for the aspiring contestant.
"Actually no, I don't [feel bad], because if she hadn't picked me I'd have been really [expletive]ed off," he told rival coach Adam Levine after the Maroon 5 frontman, Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams all turned. "She's one of the best singers I've ever heard in my life."
Linsey ended choosing Team Pharrell Williams despite entreaties from Levine and Aguilera. The singer later wrote about the audition experience on her website, saying, "The blinds were so nerve racking for me! I was just praying that I made the right decision."
The Voice premiered in 2011, and will broadcast its eighth season Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET. Linsey is best known as a member of former country duo Steel Magnolia, and released her debut solo album, The Healing, in 2014.
