Kaley Cuoco explained why she shared a fake nude photo of herself following the leak of hundreds of intimate celebrity photos earlier this month during her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday.
"It was just a really bad situation, but I took it in my own hands and made a joke about it, because, you know, what else are you going to do?," Cuoco said.
Cuoco took to Instagram days after the nude photos were leaked to share a photo of herself and husband Ryan Sweeting at the beach, but the Big Bang Theory star pixelated her top and Sweeting's swimming trunks to make it look like they were naked.
"My favorite app is called Nudifier," the actress said while explaining how she altered the image, adding that she was with her Big Bang cast mates when she decided to share it.
"We're sitting there shooting in between takes and they're helping me pick out the picture and what I should nudify so I can, you know, 'get 'em back," she recounted. "All the guys helped with this one, but you know, you gotta make fun of yourself."
Earlier in the interview the actress said that she often gets Google Alerts about fake nude photos of her being published on the Internet. When she found out about the real ones, she wrote an email to her family explaining what had happened. Cuoco said she also took the opportunity to let them know that she was not pregnant, or getting a divorce, despite the never ending tabloid reports on both subjects.
Cuoco was among the many celebrities whose nude and semi-nude photos were hacked from their iCloud accounts. After clarifying that hackers got access to the accounts through phishing -- the act of posing as someone who has forgotten their username and password -- Apple said it would be working with the FBI to find the culprit.
