NBC announced Thursday that they have given a six-year contract extension to Jimmy Fallon, effectively keeping him as the host of The Tonight Show through the fall of 2021.
The company made the announcement during their Television Critics Association press tour presentation.
The deal came about due to the high ratings The Tonight Show has achieved. Fallon and his new take on the late night talk show formula has brought in new viewers and made Fallon more popular then ever.
As the new version of The Tonight Show marches on, the 1962 version hosted by Johnny Carson is set to return to television next year with re-runs airing on Antenna TV.
The Tonight Show airs weeknights at 11:35 on NBC.
