Jewel 'regrets' turning down 'Saturday Night Live' gig

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Country singer Jewel discussed one of her biggest regrets while visiting The Meredith Vieira Show on Tuesday.
"You know I was offered to host SNL and I turned it down, because I am an idiot," Jewel revealed when Vieira asked her to share a regret that took place in the building where they were filming the show.
"I know, you may live the regret with me now. You're like, you should regret it, yeah, you should lose sleep," Jewel told the audience.
Asked why she decided to pass on the opportunity to host the late-night comedy show, the singer said she simply was an "'idiot ding-dong kid" at the time.
"I was like, well I will do it next time," she said, adding, "I am still waiting for the call."
Vieira assured her that "they will call" her again.
Despite turning down the chance to host SNL, the singer did get to be the show's musical guest twice in the late '90s.
Jewel last made headlines in July after announcing her split with Ty Murray, her husband of almost six years, on her website.
