The climax to acclaimed US drama "Mad Men" will begin on April 5 when the first of the final seven episodes airs, AMC television announced Saturday.
The seventh and last season of the hit show chronicling the lives of New York advertising executives in the 1960s officially got under way last year, with seven episodes being shown.
But the last half of the season was held over until 2015, with the final seven episodes now confirmed to begin screening in April.
"What an incredible journey this has been. I take great pride in what the entire Mad Men team was able to create episode after episode, season after season," executive producer and creator Matthew Weiner said in a statement cited by several entertainment news media.
"We sincerely thank the fans for joining us on this ride, and hope it has meant as much to them as it has to us."
First aired in 2007, "Mad Men" has emerged as one of the most successful shows of the past decade, adored by critics worldwide and winning a clutch of awards both in the United States and overseas.
It has won the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series no fewer than four times and has twice been crowned best international show at the British Academy Television Awards.
