Lebanese editor Jihad al-Zein directed a message to Egypt's Defense Minister and Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Colonel General Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi to express his personal appreciation and admiration. Writing an opinion piece for Lebanese "Al-Nahar" newspaper Saturday, Zein said Sisi and the Egyptian Armed Forces have prevented Egypt from being dragged to a civil war, which Levant countries are familiar with. Zein said that the Levant is very interested with the daily developments in Egypt, adding that the fate of the Arab democracy movement is decided by Egypt. Egypt's success in overcoming a civil war after June 30 is good news for Levant's careworn intellectuals, he said, adding that he hopes Egypt's story will influence Levant's infighting groups.
