A delegation including prominent Kuwaiti journalists left on Tuesday headed for Tehran on the first visit of the kind by a GCC delegation since the Iranian revolution of 1979, with the aim of holding meetings with senior officials to bolster media relations. Coordinator of the visit and KJA Treasurer Adnan Al-Rashed told KUNA that the gourp, headed by KJA Chairman Ahmad Bahbahani, is to meet Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad, Foreign Minister Ali Salihi, religious leaders, and other personalities to ascertain stances regarding several regional issues. There is particular interest to ascertain Iran's views regarding the latest sensitive developments in the Arab and Middle East region and specifically regarding the so-called Arab Spring. "A main objective is to bring up the level of media relations and interaction between Kuwait and Tehran," Al-Rashed noted, "and to reach and to stress mutual understanding regarding all issues." The Kuwaiti delegations's visit to Iran, which plays a vital role in the region, coincides with the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries. The delegation includes KJA Chairman Bahbahani, board member and Watan daily journalist Fatma Hussein, Anbaa Editor in Chief Yousef Al-Marzouq, Nahar daily Editor in Chief Emad Bu-Khamsein, and KUNA Editor in Chief Rashed Al-Rwaished, and Kuwait Times Editor in Chief Abderrahman Al-Elayyan. Also in the delegation are Al-Rai daily writer Sheikha Fawziya Al-Sabah, Anbaa journalist Faisal Al-Zamel, among others.
