The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused on Sunday on Israeli forces’ fatal shooting of two Palestinians at Hamra Israeli military checkpoint, to the northeast of Nablus, on Saturday.
They said troops stationed at Hamra checkpoint opened live fire at Ali Abu Mariam, 23, and Saeed Abul-Wafa, 38, both from Jenin, and left them to bleed to death, after they allegedly attempted to attack soldiers manning the checkpoint.
The dailies also focused on the funeral procession of four Palestinians who were shot dead by Israeli forces on Thursday. The four are from the town of Sa’ir near Hebron.
On a different subject, al-Ayyam said Israeli army demolished the family house of Muhannad al-Halabi, who stabbed and killed two Israeli settlers in Jerusalem in early October 2015, in Ramallah in a punitive procedure.
The three dailies said President Mahmoud Abbas approved the public budget for the fiscal year 2016.
Al-Quds said UNRWA embarked on the reconstruction of 2,000 homes in war-battered Gaza.
Al-Ayyam said the United States Department of State said Israel’s continuing settlement activities undermine the two-state solution.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened to escalate field assassinations of Palestinians, vowing to “kill all those who want to kill Israelis”.
