Cairo newspapers out Saturday focused on final preparations for the inauguration ceremony of the New Suez Canal, slated for August 6.
Al Ahram said that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi will be receiving a report from chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Mohab Mamish about the dredging operations and preparations for giant ships to transit the new waterway.
Al Gomhuria said Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab will pay a visit to the Canal city of Ismailia to check on the final preparations ahead of the inauguration ceremony.
He will also make sure that the place where President Sisi and his guests will arrive is ready.
The daily quoted Ismailia governor Yassin Taher as saying that field visits are conducted every day to follow up the preparations for the historic international event.
