The Bahrain News Agency (BNA) will hold, in collaboration with the University of Bahrain (UoB), a panel discussion themed "Ethicality and Efficiency in the Work of News Agencies".
The panel discussion will be held during the first day of the 42nd General Assembly of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA), to be hosted by the kingdom on November 24 and 25 at the UoB.
Head of the Media Committee of FANA Meeting Khalid Ismail said that the panel discussion, the first of its kind in FANA's history.
He added that the panel discussed, to be run by the Director-General of the Jordanian News Agency (PETRA), aims to discuss the best ways to upgrade the performance and professional level of Arab news agencies.
He affirmed that the panel discussion and all FANA's meetings enjoy the support of the kingdom's leadership, noting that the Minister of State for Information Affairs and the Official Spokesperson of the Government Sameera Ebrahim bin Rajab will attend the meeting and deliver a speech to welcome participants.
President of the Information Affairs Authority (IAA) Ali bin Mohammed Al-Rumaihi, FANA Secretary-General Dr. Farid Ayar, Chairman of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Abdulla bin Fahad Al-Hussain, Director-General of the Oman News Agency (ONA) Dr. Mohammed Al-Oraimi, Director-General of the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) Laura Suleiman, Director-General of the Yemeni News Agency (SABA) Tariq Al-Shami and Dr. Tayseer Abu Arja, from the Petra University in Jordan will participate in the panel discussion, he said.
He added that more than 40 participants, including ambassadors, editors-in-chief, journalists, public relations officials, university professors and correspondents of news agencies, will also attend, lauding the support of UoB President for the event.
Coordinator-General of the 42nd FANA meeting said that the agenda of the meeting features a number of topics related to ways to enhance the role of news agencies, being the official means to disseminate news, noting that they are faced with misleading media, which requires them to respond quickly in order to enlighten the public opinion and project the real image.
He said that a photo gallery will be held on the sidelines of FANA meeting, in which FANA members will showcase the progress witnessed by their countries in all fields.
