A new book by a Kuwaiti sports journalist has been released recently documenting the march of sports media in Kuwait and shedding light on some of the most distinctive and influential media personalities and figures in Kuwaiti sports since its early beginnings in the 1930s until current year. The 320-page book is entitled "Sports Media in Kuwait: History and Accomplishments" and written by Zaid Zeyad Al-Serbel. It documents in details the different stages of Kuwait's sports media development on local, regional, and international levels since 1928 and until early 2014. In his introduction to the book, Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah lauded the author's valuable initiative in writing "this special book" which preserves the identity and history of sports media in Kuwait, adding it also motivates the new generation to continue this successful march. Sheikh Salman also said that Kuwaiti sports media will remain a pioneering and up to the patriotic responsibility, describing it as a window through which sports movement overlooks on others, an eye of criticism to correct flaws and errors, a mirror that reflects national accomplishments, and a carrier of the bright image of all its surroundings. He also said that Kuwait has achieved successive leaps through efforts exerted by national journalists and media figures, particularly sports journalists along over 70 years filled with dedication and achievements. Sheikh Salman also expressed gratitude and appreciation of all loyal Kuwaiti efforts that contribute to raising Kuwait's flag high at international events of in different domains, including sports media. He also pointed out that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah is one of the major figures that supported Kuwaiti media march and success through his keenness in placing Kuwait above any regard, and keeping pace with latest international and technological developments of media in all its areas and forms. His Highness the Amir urged spreading of sports culture, inculcating educational, social, and health values, combating sports intolerance, hooliganism, illegal financial gain, and drugs, promoting spirit of fair play, and keeping up with latest technology, Sheikh Salman said. For his part, Al-Serbel, who also worked as Editor-in-Chief for the local affairs desk at KUNA, stated today that the book contains a complete record, word and image, of different stages of Kuwaiti sports media and its various outlets, as well as achievements throughout the years. He dedicated the book to His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and to all of those who contributed in development of Kuwait and Kuwaiti media
