Calista Flockhart has opened up about husband Harrison Ford's plane crash for the first time.
The 50-year-old actress discussed the incident with reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour Monday. Ford was hospitalized with a broken ankle and pelvis after his single-engine plane crashed near Santa Monica in March.
"It was a really hard, scary time for our family," the star recalled. "I think it just makes you realize, once again, that life can turn on a dime. We just have to appreciate every second we're here, because you never know."
The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed the crash was caused by mechanical failure last week. Flockhart said she will continue to "100 percent" support Ford's passion for flying, and reassured fans the 73-year-old actor has been "doing really well" since the accident.
The longtime couple have been together since 2002, and married in June 2010. The pair share 14-year-old son Liam, and the actor is also father to 47-year-old Ben and 46-year-old Willard with Mary Marquardt and 27-year-old Malcolm and 25-year-old Georgia with Melissa Mathison.
Flockhart portrays Ellen Kelly-O'Rourke on DirecTV drama Full Circle, and will play Cat Grant on CBS series Supergirl. Ford is scheduled to reprise Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, and also slated for a new Blade Runner film.
