A unified strategy was urged to develop the Arab e-media and optimise benefit from the internet. Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al-Romaihi stressed the importance of such a pan-Arab blueprint to regulate cyber freedom of opinion and expression and confront any incitement on extremism, violence and terrorism in compliance with Arab and International convenants.
The minister was speaking as he patronised the 9th meeting of the Arab e-Information Committee and a workshop under the theme "e-Media Against Extremist Ideas". Arab League Assistant Secretary-General Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazala, also head of the Media and Communication Department attended.
Committee members and other organisations and other media parties attended the event, on the sidelines of their meetings, being held in Bahrain on November 15-17. Al-Romaihi commended the efforts of the Arab League to bolster pan-Arab joint work, enhance media awareness, defend Arab security and protect societies from extremist and destructive ideas.
Dr. Abu Ghazala thanked Bahrain for hosting the meetings and supporting the joint Arab work which, she said, reflects the Kingdom's keenness on protecting pan-Arab security and serving the joint Arab interests.
