National Media Council and a high-level delegation from Oman’s Ministry of Information, led by Director General for Media Affairs at the Omani Ministry of Information Shaikh Majeed bin Mohammed Al-Rawas, held discussions on Tuesday on stepping up media cooperation between UAE and Sultanate of Oman. Senior officials of the National Media Council (NMC) and the Omani Ministry of Information participated in the discussions held at the NMC headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The Omani delegation listened to a briefing by the Director General of the National Media Council Ibrahim Al Abed on the history and development of the media sector and its regulation in the UAE. The delegation explored several avenues of cooperation with the National Media Council such as the exchange of experiences and training. NMC’s experience in the fields of publications, media content and media licensing, as well as artistic works were specially commended. During his talks with the NMC Director General, Al-Rawas conveyed greetings of Omani Information Minister Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Hosni to Foreign Minister and NMC Chairman Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and stressed his profound interest in developing media cooperation between UAE and Oman. Al Rawas later toured the premises of the Emirates News Agency (WAM) and listened to a presentation on it by Managing Editor Jamal Nasser Al-Suwaider. The visiting delegation hailed the high technological standard maintained by WAM in news gathering and transmission and TV broadcast across the globe.
