The Turkish Children and Media Congress visited the Director General and Board Chairman of Anadolu Agency, Kemal Ozturk, under the presidency of Murat Karakaya, the Turkish Prime Ministry's director general of press and information on Monday. Ozturk said that they had conceived of the idea of child reporters in parallel with the project of the Turkish Children and Media Congress. Karakaya said the First Turkish Children and Media Conference would be held in Istanbul from November 14-15 to discuss the pros and cons of media. Saying the vision of the conference would be "child-friendly media and a Turkey with media literacy," Karakaya said preparations had been continuing for a year and children, adults, families, media and public institutions would actively take part in the conference. Karakaya stated that Anadolu Agency had been supporting the preparation process from the beginning and actively contributing by announcing the process to Turkey. AA Director General Ozturk informed the students in the delegation about Anadolu Agency's foundation and efforts in Turkey and around the world. Ozturk said he had attended the preparation efforts in 2012, noting the Agency was the project's press sponsor. - Idea of child reporters Ozturk said this idea was parallel to the Turkish Children and Media Conference project. Pointing to a student in the delegation, he said, "What I mean is that you can be an honorary reporter of Anadolu Agency. For instance, we will issue you a card of honorary reporter and you will send us news from your school, street or city. If your news is clear and neat, we will broadcast it in our news portal. This is our idea." Ozturk gave information about honorary reporting and said the agency would always support child reporters.
