British model Muna Juma has refused to wear a bikini at the 2017 Miss Universe Great Britain pageant.
When her competitors donned bikinis, the Londoner took to the stage wearing a colorful caftan.
“I wouldn’t wear a bikini to the beach, so I’m not going to wear one in a competition to score points,” Juma told British news outlet, Metro UK.Miss Universe GB Contestant Refuses to Wear Bikini
According to English news platform, Telegraph, the 27-year old model applied for the competition two years ago. However, Juma withdrew from the competitions “over concerns about having to wear the swimwear, which is against her religious beliefs.”
The same source added that Juma decided to reapply in 2017, and she managed to reach the contest’s final rounds.
