Media plays an important role in covering and promoting activities of the Gulf Red Crescent Societies in relieving catastrophe-stricken peoples across the world, said Abdul-Rahman Al-Aoun, Kuwait Red Crescent Society Director General. Al-Aoun, speaking to KUNA after the first meeting of the executive directors of Gulf relief authorities, held at the KRCS headquarters, said the conferees discussed a number of key topics, namely the media role for serving the Gulf relief organizations. The media in the West are invested for promoting activities of charities and relief agencies, he pointed out. The talks during the meeting also dealt with the "painful humanitarian conditions of the Syrian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon," he said, noting that the KRCS donations and activities for aiding the refugees should be presented at the international donors conference, due to be hosted by Kuwait next month. He praised the UAE for providing information and photos to the GCC Secretariat General regarding the relief organizations of the GCC countries. The talks during the meeting touched on Gulf nominations for senior posts in the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and inter-GCC coordination for the general assembly meeting of the federation. More topics on the table were field missions, conventions and workshops, he said, alluding to inspection of the Syrian refugees' conditions by GCC relief teams and officials. He disclosed a proposed plan to establish an emergency center in Kuwait, to be headed by Bahrain.
