Chairman and Director General of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah affirmed on Wednesday importance of bolstering media cooperation among the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council for sake of realizing the aspired development in this vital domain. GCC states are rich in abundant resources for making qualitative leaps in the media sector, said Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij, in a statement upon his return home after representing Kuwait at meetings of chairmen of the Gulf news agencies, held in Riyadh. He praised role of the Saudi Press Agency for its continuous efforts in support of the other Gulf news agencies and activation of accords, aimed at boosting the inter-Gulf cooperation at this level. The chief of the national news agency also hailed the major progress made by the SPA over the past years, indicating at the KUNA-SPA cooperation namely exchange of expertise and information, as well as the two sides' coordination toward various issues of common interest. He also affirmed KUNA's keenness on enhancing the cooperation with the other identical establishments in the states of the region. The joint GCC media strategy, adopted at the 31st session of the GCC Supreme Council, held in Abu Dhabi, constituted a reference framework for bolstering the media cooperation among the states of the region, he said. He also affirmed necessity of its speedy implementation and congratulated the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on its National Day, falling on September 23.
