Minister of Information Affairs Isa bin Abdulrahman Al-Hammadi has lauded the remarkable role played by writers and intellectuals in Bahraini political, economic and social development movement.
He hailed the documentation of Bahrain's modern history, pointing out the importance of history for societies and in finding solutions to contemporary issues.
This came during the launch ceremony of Dr. Abdulhameed Al-Mahadeen's book "Literary Movement in Bahrain-First Years (1964-1975)", which was printed and published by the Information Affairs Authority (IAA). The launch ceremony was held in Bahrain Writers Association, in the presence of large number of intellectuals .
The Information Minister valued Dr. Al-Mahadeen's outstanding contributions to the fields of education, culture, documentation and literary criticism. He said that the book is a valuable addition to Bahrain's library, adding that it reflects Bahrain's literary and cultural life during an important era. He also underscored the importance of documentation for next generations so as to promote their sense of patriotism and love of Bahrain.
He lauded the efforts exerted by Bahraini intellectuals and writers, commending their role in upgrading the Bahraini community, voicing the ministry's readiness to support all efforts made to project Bahrain's modernity through cultural and literary production.
Dr. Al-Mahadeen expressed happiness about the launch of his book, lauding the efforts of the Information Ministry officials and highlighting the contributions of intellectuals and writers. He explained the phases of writing and publishing the book, commending those who supported him to complete the book.
Bahrain Writers Association Secretary-General Rashed Al-Najem praised Dr. Al-Mahadeen's contributions and efforts in publishing this book. Meanwhile, Bahrain Writers Association Chairman Ibrahim Buhindi expressed appreciation to Dr. Al-Mahadeen for his books and publications that document the cultural movement in Bahrain, especially in the 1960's and 70's.
He expressed delight in holding such events in the association's headquarter, which is considered a house for artists and intellectuals in all cultural fields.
Bahraini writer and playwright Hamad Al-Shehabi valued Dr. Al-Mahadeen's cultural and literary publications and impact on the literary scene, affirming the need for such valuable books. He said that Dr. Al-Mahadeen has become part of Bahrain's cultural and literary scene.
IAA Media Director Yusuf Mohammed said the directorate devotes all its capacity to serve intellectuals and facilitate their work in order to enrich the Bahraini library.
