Information Affairs Minister Isa bin Abdulrahman Al-Hammadi praised the achievements of Bahraini women and their ability to reach an advanced status as key partners in promoting reforms and development on the basis of equality, social justice and equal opportunities.
He extended congratulations to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) and to Bahraini women on the International Women's Day, stressing that Bahrain has set an outstanding example in equality and women empowerment.
The minister underlined the engagement of Bahraini women in development plans and their enjoyment of full rights according to the constitution, the National Action Charter and an advanced national legislation system that is in concordance with international human rights covenants.
He pointed out participation of Bahraini women in the development process and their success in taking up leading positions in the executive, administrative, legislative and judicial fields.
The minister underscored the high-profile status of Bahraini women in regional and international gatherings, paying tribute to Bahraini female workers in the press and media fields where they account for 49% of the radio staff and 27% of the overall workforce in the Information Affairs Authority (IAA).
The minister underlined the ministry's keenness to activate the role of the IAA equal opportunities unit and support the National Women Empowerment Strategy 2013-2022.
He also affirmed the positive role of Bahraini women in social development and in raising awareness of the importance of fostering national unity, combating violence and extremism, grooming youngsters to take part effectively in sustainable development and protecting hard-won national gains and reforms brought about in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
