The House of Representatives finally approved on Wednesday a draft law regulating press and media institutions.
Upon the 89-article draft law, a supreme media regulatory council, as well as two national authorities for press and media will be established.
Under the new bill, the Egyptian Radio and Television Union (ERTU) will continue to exercise its duties until the national authority for media is formed within a period of six months from the enforcement of this draft law.
Also, the boards and general assemblies of the national press institutions will continue to exercise their duties until the national authority for press is formed within a period of six months from the enforcement of this draft law.
