Florida-based communications and technology firm Harris Corporation has set up a new regional HQ in Dubai to support its growing business in the Middle East and South Asia. The company has also expanded its broadcast operations in Dubai Media City to house the service and support members of its team, which will work alongside a new regional solutions group responsible for managing broadcast projects in the region. The new offices opened on Wednesday, the company said in a statement, and follows recent contract wins which include one for Sky News Arabia, the new 24-hour Arabic language news channel set to go live next year. "Harris first established its Middle East broadcast operations in Dubai in 2006, and has seen its annual business grow exponentially across the region," said Harris Morris, president, Harris Broadcast Communications. "Expanding our presence enables us to develop closer relationships with customers and engineering teams, ensuring faster local service and support and helping customers optimise their successes." Harris recently won several new contracts in the region, including a significant order from Turkmenistan TV, the state broadcaster, Sky News Arabia and India's STV Orissa. Harris also operates Harris Atlas Systems, a joint venture in Abu Dhabi that offers customers in the Middle East solutions for command and control, emergency management and other mission-critical situations.
