The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states are keen to bolster media cooperation with Jordan, the Executive Director of UAE News Agency (WAM), Jamal Al Suwaider, said on Sunday.
The director of the state news agency told Petra reporters that he will be leading his country’s delegation to the 2nd GCC-Jordanian Media Forum, slated to be held in Amman, to discuss ways to cement media relations between the GCC states and the Kingdom.
The strong ties between the Gulf Arab states and Jordan require activating media cooperation mechanisms to keep pace with these growing relations, the UAE official said, adding that there will be special media programmes between Jordan and each GCC state.
Al Suwaider also stressed the importance of the Media Forum to follow up on the outcome of the first forum, which was held in Riyadh last February. The conferees, he added, will discuss practical steps to in order to benefit from the Jordanian and GCC media expertise.
The director of WAM also mentioned a recent meeting of the GCC information ministers who welcomed opening new areas of cooperation with Jordan and Morocco.
