The GCC Journalism Committee members kicked off their meeting, with participation of Kuwait, in the Omani capital Monday.
The meeting, organized by Oman Journalist Association, discussed a number of issues regarding enhancing journalism in the GCC region and Yemen, focusing on challenges facing Gulf and Yemeni press, and importance to improve skills of young journalists, Awadh Baqueer, committee's chairman, said in a statement following the meeting.
The committee also discussed cooperation measures between newspapers and regional and international unions, Baqueer added, affirming that his country is always keen on gathering Gulf journalists to bolster cooperation ties as it is a policy that has been adopted by Oman under the wise leadership of Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed.
Meanwhile, Baqueer described the Sultanate's hosting of the fifth conference of the Gulf Journalist Union on Tuesday as an opportunity for elite Gulf and Arab journalists and media personalities to get acquainted with latest media developments in Oman.
Kuwait was represented during today's meeting by Adnan Al-Rashed, Deputy Editor in Chief of Al-Anbaa daily and a member of Kuwait Journalist Association.
