The 42nd General Assembly of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) approved Tuesday a number of measures to boost professionalism and upgrade performance of national agencies staff.
In its final statement, the Assembly gave green light for organization of specialized training courses for staff in cooperation with the Thomson Reuters.
It agreed on holding workshops economic news editors in cooperation with Reuters.
The conferees also approved a number of workshops to boost efficiency of the public relations, marketing, internet, photo, engineering and technical departments' staff.
They agreed on holding a meeting for the committee in charge of dialogue between Arab, European and international news agencies in 2015.
FANA declared Kuwait News Agency KUNA's editor Samie Al-Dulaimi the winner of the best report of the year on his feature "Kabul turns to culture in times of war." Meanwhile, the Assembly recommended the continuation of publishing of rotating bi-monthly Arab economic report through cooperation among FANA members.
Kuwait's delegation to the meeting was headed by Kuwait News Agency Board Chairman and Director General Sheikh Mubarak Duaij Al-Sabah.
The FANA organization groups together all national news agencies in the Arab world. Established in 1975 as part of the Arab League, it aims at developing the infrastructure of member news agencies by organizing training courses and establishing links with international news organizations.
