A tribute has been paid to Bahrain leadership for the unwavering support given to the Arab news agencies. Bahrain News Agency (BNA) Acting Director General Mohannad Suleiman Al Nuaimi voiced appreciation of the participants in the 42nd Conference of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) General Assembly of the leadership's unrelenting efforts to back projects aimed at rallying Arab ranks. He was speaking at a press conference today marking conclusion of the two-day conference.
He said decisions taken during this year's conference were clearer and well-focused on ways of further developing the media sector in Arab countries. He cited a line-up of measures including workshops and specialised sessions to hone the competence of the news agencies staff and help them keep abreast of the technological and IT advancement.
He pointed out the importance given during the discussions to the Arab-European cooperation, adding that a meeting will be held in 2015 by the committee in charge of following up the dialogue between the Arab and international news agencies regarding various issues pertaining mainly to news exchange and the rectification of false information disclosed about Arab countries.
He also revealed that a journalist from Kuwait News Agency was also honoured at the conference for best report written in 2014, adding that the next annual conference will be hosted by Kuwait.
Participants in FANA 42nd conference thanked State Minister for Information Affairs and the Government's Official Spokesperson Sameera Ibrahim bin Rajab for patronising the event.
