Cairo Criminal Court ordered on Friday a media gag on the case of "Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis" in which 213 defendants are tried over terrorism charges.
The ban applies to all local and foreign media outlets and will be in effect until the first session of the trial is held on March 3.
The charges include assassination attempts against Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim and other police officers, and blasts at security facilities including the buildings of Cairo, Daqahliya and South Sinai security directorates.
All Egyptian media outlets will be allowed to cover the first hearing after obtaining permits issued by the court.
