State Minister for Information Affairs and the Government's Official Spokesperson Sameera Ebrahim bin Rajab reviewed at the post-Cabinet press conference today the issues discussed at the ministerial Council session.
Responding to a question on the eligibility criteria for candidacy in the parliamentary elections, she stressed that participation, be it by running or voting, is a constitutional right for all citizens and that any irregularities will be dealt with according to the law.
Concerning media preparations to cover the elections, she said that the Information Affairs Authority, in cooperation with the High Election Committee, is the relevant party in charge of determining the regulations and issuing authorisations for journalists and media persons. She pointed out that foreign media personnel and journalists will be invited before the elections and will have a well-equipped centre to do their work. She also emphasised that all media institutions will be dealt with in utter transparency.
Concerning the draft decree-law on delayed real estates development projects which was approved by the Cabinet today, the minister said the law comprises many regulations to expedite solving pending problems and safeguarding the investors' rights.
