Fairfax Media, Australia's multi- platform media group, plans to scrap the print edition of BRW Magazine after 32 years as the company moves away from its traditional print operations to strengthen its online business, local media reported on Friday. Fairfax's director of business media Sean Aylmer has informed staff the final edition of the weekly business magazine will be printed on Nov. 28, but the company will retain the BRW website and the popular BRW 200 Rich List as part of its business media unit and Australian Financial Review masthead. "The BRW brand remains a valued part of our Business Media portfolio and has considerable strength in the market," he said. Aylmer said the company would continue the BRW brand on line as a free website, unlike contents on the websites of the company's Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, which are behind a paywall. He told BRW staff that they may participate in the voluntary redundancy program.
