Chairman of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) Ismail Al-Shishtawi on Sunday commended Kuwait for hosting the 92th session of the ASBU Executive Council that kicked off today.
Addressing the opening of the session, Al-Shishtawi thanked Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, and the ministry officials for their efforts to guarantee success for the gathering.
The five-day event includes the official opening of the ASPU General Assembly meeting, December 9-11, besides various other topics.
Addressing the meeting, Assistant Undersecretary of the Information Ministry for Media Planning and Knowledge Development Mohammad Al-Awash, also ASPU first deputy chairman, welcomed the participant delegations on behalf of Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud, wishing them success.
The cooperation amid the ASPU staff has been seeking realizing its media message, namely promoting the Arab media scene, and reinforcing its reputation on the regional and international levels, ASPU Director-General Salah Eddine Maauoi said.
The major media event will address a host of topics that aim at developing the Arab and radio and TV programs, Assistant Undersecretary at Ministry of Information Fahad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah told KUNA on the sidelines of the ASPU meetings.
The Arab society is currently experiencing some negative social phenomena that prompt media people to counter them, considering the age categories, he said, referring to the emergence of social violence and the misuse of social networking.
For his part, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information for Radio Affairs Youssef Mustafa stressed the importance of the event that "will witness the launch of a new program that ushers in a new stage of Arab joint media action."
