The Mercedes G-Wagon is set for its final hurrah.Mercedes-Benz is getting set to retire the G55 AMG, however they are giving the much-adored G-Wagon a swan-song final edition before it goes out of production. The off-roader features "Elegance, opulence and raw sheer AMG power."Mercedes-Benz Reporter Matthew took the white G55 AMG out in the snow and into the Bavarian Alps for some mountain-side driving. The G-Wagon handles it with plenty of aplomb, handling the elements with the slightest of ease. The heavy two and a half ton truck can hit 62mph from rest in 5.5 seconds. It runs on a supercharged 5.5-liter V8 engine which puts out a serious 507hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. The interior features plenty of leather and Alcantara lines the roof. The high-quality material even covers the underside of the G55's sunroof. It sits on a set of thick 19-inch alloy AMG wheels. Make sure you stick around until the G-Wagon goes for a quick off-road drive through the heavy snow and then onto the Autobahn for a bit of high-speed cruising. We will certainly enjoy the Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG Final Edition and fondly remember the G-Wagon as a terrific off-roader that matched luxury and performance to near perfection.
