Renault is set to lauch its electric vehicle Twizy for the Middle East market at the Qatar Motorshow which begins tomorrow (February 21) in Doha. The vehicle will be available for pre-booking in the region, starting with Qatar and the UAE, said a statement. Peyman Kargar, managing director – Middle East, said: “Renault has always been a leading company in terms of innovation. With Renault Twizy, officially launched in the Middle East at the Qatar Motor Show, Renault brings real innovation to the Middle East’s customers. With the Renault Twizy, Renault plays the difference by being the only car manufacturer in the Middle East to market a 100 per cent electric vehicle.” Powered entirely by electricity, the Renault Twizy has an urban-cycle range of approximately 85km. The batteries can be charged via an extendible cable located behind the Renault diamond at the front of the car. A full charge takes around three and a half hours using, the normal household 220-240v domestic supply. The lithium-ion batteries which power the electric motor are mounted beneath the seats to lower the centre of gravity. Source: TradeArabia
