Dubai-based Mena Mobility Solutions has been appointed as the exclusive Middle East and North African distributor for the MV-1, the world's first and only purpose-built, universally accessible vehicle.
US-based Mobility Ventures, an AM General company, is the designer and manufacturer of the acclaimed MV-1, which is designed from the ground up in support of wheelchair users.
Built at AM General's world-class, 675,000 sq ft Commercial Assembly Plant in Mishawaka, Indiana, the MV-1 is universally designed, allowing people of all abilities equal access to a quality, safe and inclusive transportation option.
The MV-1 is more durable and cost effective to own and operate than a traditional retrofitted van or bus, a statement said, adding that it is dedicated to transporting all passengers; with or without mobility challenges.
"Mena Mobility Solutions is the ideal partner for us in the Middle East and North Africa region," said Rick Smith, president of Mobility Ventures. "The team has a strong reputation for customer satisfaction, and years of experience serving the mobility industry. This international partnership furthers the reach of the MV-1 to provide accessible transportation to individuals with mobility challenges, commercial fleets, institutions, and municipalities."
"We are privileged to partner with Mobility Ventures on this important milestone in the Middle East and North African region," said Brendan McGuinness, president and CEO, Mena Mobility Solutions, Dubai.
"The MV-1 finally opens up the accessible market to include Government agencies, public transport, hotel shuttle and accessible car hire and we look forward to supporting our customers and dealers across the region. The MV-1 will be available to customers in the Middle East and North Africa region in September though our network of independent dealers and full service vehicle centres."
The MV-1 has a side-entry powered ramp and space for a wheelchair passenger to sit in the front of the vehicle next to the driver, with additional room in back for another wheelchair and extra passengers. The MV-1 provides "Best in Class" safety direct from the factory and meets all applicable safety standards in the US for crash-worthiness tests, the statement said.
