At CES 2015, the Israeli company Green Ride presented a remarkable electric scooter with a luxury design and state-of-the-art tech. This futuristic-looking vehicle lets passengers ride up to 40km on a single charge, all while receiving messages and taking and sharing selfies.
With its sleek design, its aluminum structure and its connected handlebars, INU (which is Japanese for "dog") is a breeze to carry around, as it can be folded up in four seconds and only weighs 18kg.
Powered by a motor with between 500 and 750W, the scooter can zip along at up to 25km/h, though riders can also choose to cap top speed at 6km/h or 20km/h. A complete battery charge takes three hours.
Thanks to a dedicated mobile app (for Android and iOS), users can receive messages directly on the scooter or even take and share photos and videos using the controls on the handlebars. The "Find my INU" feature allows owners to easily locate their scooter using their mobile device.
Reservations are now open for the INU at a dedicated website. Prices range from €2,999 (around $3,540) for the model with a 20km range and WiFi to €4,999 (around $5,900) for one with a 40km range, WiFi and a SIM card with worldwide coverage. The first models are expected to ship by June 2015.
