Porsche’s all-new Cayman GT4 was showcased for the first time in the UAE, as part of Al Nabooda Automobiles’ one year anniversary celebrations for the Porsche Centre Sharjah.
The two-door sports car, developed at the Motorsport department in Weissach, was one of the main attractions for attending guests who filled the 15,800-sq-ft state-of-the-art showroom, said a statement.
As the only high-performance, mid-engine sports car in Porsche’s GT model line-up, the Cayman GT4 embodies the Stuttgart-based manufacturer’s approach to creating performance led cars, with everyday usability.
Recording a lap time of seven minutes and 40 seconds on the North Loop of the Nürburgring, Germany, the Cayman GT4 has immediately set a new sporty benchmark in its segment.
Powered by a 3.8-litre flat-six engine with 385 hp, which is derived from the 911 Carrera S engine, its power is transmitted by a six-speed manual gearbox with dynamic gearbox mounts.
The sports car which accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, with a top speed of 295 km/h, features a 30 mm lower body position and a generously sized brake system, which consists almost entirely of components from the 911 GT3.
K Rajaram, chief executive officer, Al Nabooda Automobiles, said: “The Cayman GT4 represents one of Porsche’s latest achievements and in combination with celebrating a successful year since the opening of Porsche Centre Sharjah, we are showcasing how the brand continues to grow from strength-to-strength. We are also using this occasion to reflect on Sharjah’s pivotal role in contributing to the growth of the automotive sector in the UAE.”
The guests at the event were also treated to exclusive Porsche driving experiences, which included a dynamic handling and off-road course.
Porsche E-Mobility technology and the latest GTS models were also showcased at the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road facility, alongside a classic car display of four generations of the 911 Turbo. This included the 1977 911 Turbo 3.0, 1988 911 Turbo (930), 1991 911 Turbo (964) and 1997 911 Turbo (993), courtesy of Karim Al Azhari, president, Porsche Club UAE.
