The Roads and Transport Authority, RTA, has scooped the best government practices awards in the field of internal audit (Governance, Risks and Controls category, as well as Fraud category).
RTA was also named the Overall Winner of the Superiority Award amongst participating government entities across the nation. The awards were presented at the conclusion of the Chief Audit Executive (CAE) Conference held in Abu Dhabi.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA expressed his delight for the RTA winning of these awards, adding that RTA is always keen on innovation & excellence. He stressed the importance of adopting the best practices in all fields, including governance, monitoring, and audit, which is reflected in winning these awards for the second year in a row.
Al Tayer made this statement while accepting the three trophies from Abdullah Al-Jawi, Director of Internal Audit at RTA. He commended the Department for making this achievement, which will motivate the RTA to continue with its pioneering endeavours based on the provision of full details, fulfilling the professional standards while adopting the principles of transparency and accountability.
"Winning the most important three awards of internal audit underscores the professionalism, innovation, and excellence adopted by the Internal Audit Dep’t in all practices. Such a drive stems from the keenness of our leadership that plays a vital role in motivating Internal Audit Department to excel, innovate and adopt the highest global standards," said Al Jawi.
The Director of Internal Audit thanked the President of UAE Internal Auditors Association for patronising and staging this important event. He also noted that the attendance of Ms. Angela Witzany, Chairman of the Board, Institute of Internal Auditors, and the honouring of winners was a testament to the attention paid by the largest professional global entity in the field of internal audit to this event.
