Peugeot’s all-electric EX1 Concept set an electric lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in May, with a time of 9 minutes and 1.338 seconds. The 340bhp three-wheeler shattered the previous electric ‘Ring record by 50 seconds, but now there’s another challenger lapping the Green Hell in silence. E-Wolf’s Alpha 1 SRF (Silent Radical Force) has been spied testing around the northern loop, in preparation for a record attempt. This lightweight car has two high performance motors that propel it form zero to 100kph in under four seconds, thanks to a monstrous 800Nm of torque available from rest. Top speed is 230kph, which is fine for your average circuit but quite a detriment on the Nordschleife’s 3km straight. Despite the 350kg of lithium-ion batteries burdening the chassis, the whole car still tips the scales under a tonne at 970kg. Unbelievably, the German company behind the project is claiming a 300km range on the street too, even though the Alpha 1 is primarily developed for track use. What’s more, E-Wolf is not treating this as merely a publicity record-attempt, but you can actually give them a call and order one. That is, if you have Dh1.1 million lying around.
