Egypt's official weather agency said Sunday that a heat wave grilling the country is expected to last until Tuesday.
According to a press release by Egypt's Meteorological Authority, temperatures in some districts have reached 45 degrees Celsius during the day.
In capital Cairo, the high has reached 43, while temperatures in some Upper Egypt's governorates have hit 44 to 45 degrees.
The Sinai resort town of Sharm El-Sheikh has seen temperatures of 40 degrees, while Hurghada on the mainland has witnessed a high of 43 degrees.
The agency has advised the Egyptians to stay out of direct sunlight for long periods of time between noon and evening and to stay hydrated.
In August last year, the north African country was hit by a heat wave with maximum temperatures that exceeded 50 degrees Celsius, causing the death of doznes.
