With an early morning fog alert, forecasters have warned people to drive carefully in some internal and coastal areas on Tuesday. The weather has been unstable this month. Last week, the weather was hot, then cooler winds retook the reigns, and now humidity and fog has arrived. January is normally one of the coldest month of the year in the emirates has given mixed feeling of summer, spring, and autumn in its first 15 days. Forecasters described the phenomenon as unusual but attribute it to a bad weather system that recently hit Eastern Saudi Arabia and influenced the conditions as far as northern emirates. The system also pushed in cold north-westerly winds that have been weakening. The system has given some rain in the UAE islands in the Arabian Sea such as Abu Al Bukhosh where some 13.2mm rain was recorded, and some light showers in Ras Al Khaimah Emirate a couple of days back. Strong and cooler winds also kicked up dust and sand in the western region of Abu Dhabi Emirate. The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said the weather will be fair to partly cloudy in general across the UAE. Winds are likely to go down to moderately rough levels but could blow up dust and sand at times during the daytime in some internal and open areas. The centre expects an increase in humidity level on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, with a chance of mist or fog in some internal and coastal areas. This could reduce visibility at times on certain highways and road. The sea will, however, continue to be rough in general with several feet high ways offshore at least up to Thursday morning. The waves' height will be just two to three feet onshore. Similar conditions are also expected in the Gulf of Oman. The temperatures are likely to be 13 to 24 degrees Celsius in the coastal, 9 degrees Celcius to 27 degrees Celcius in the internal areas, and 4 degrees Celcius to 18 degrees Celcius in the mountainous areas on Tuesday.
