Winds have kicked up dust and sand in the open areas in the UAE, reducing visibility to 800 meters in Dubai and some other coastal and open areas. The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) reported similar conditions in Abu Dhabi, stating that the conditions would end quickly. Winds were blowing at a speed of 21 knots around mid-day in Dubai. Forecasters said the condition was caused by winds moving along with the clouds from Saudi Arabia into the UAE. A convergence point was developed over the UAE for winds coming from two different directions. This convergence led the winds to kick up dust in open areas. The winds are coming from the east and western and north-western directions. Visibility in Al Ain has gone down to 700 meters. Forecasters have warned drivers to be careful while driving on highways and open areas as the visibility has dipped. The weather will remain partly cloudy and conditions are likely to improve quickly as the winds and dust will move away in the eastward direction, said the forecasters.
