The United States and Brazil embarked on a bilateral energy dialogue aimed at strengthening regional and global energy security, an official said.Daniel Poneman, U.S. deputy secretary of energy, joined Brazilian Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Mines and Energy Marcio Zimmermann to launch bilateral measures aimed at deepening energy cooperation.The dialogue focused on biofuels, renewable energy and energy efficiency measures, conventional energy strategies and nuclear security. A so-called Green Export trade mission is to visit Brazil this month.Poneman said the bilateral talks and future energy cooperation would advance shared energy goals between the two countries."Working together, we can help grow our economies, enhance regional and global energy security and build a clean energy future for both of our nations," he said in a statement.More than 175 U.S. companies are to take part in an offshore technology conference and trade show in October in Rio de Janeiro.
