Algeria's national hydrocarbon company (Sonatrach) has made, in partnership with foreign companies, a new gas discovery in the Illizi basin, in southern Algeria.
The contracting parties made up of Sonatrach, Repsol exploracion Argelia SA, Enel trade SPA and GDF Suez E and P projects Algeria BV discovered a third natural gas well in the South-east perimeter of Illizi (Blocks 232 and 241a) in the Iliizi basin, according to Algeria Press Service (APS).
The test carried out at the level of well Tan Emellel South-West-2 (Tesco-2) resulted in an output of 175,000 m3/day of natural gas and 90 bbl/day of condensate, under duse 32/64, from Ordovician tank at 1,307 meters deep.
This result confirms the potential of Ordovician hydrocarbons in South-east perimeter of Illizi.
