Chairman of the Jordanian Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) Khaled Toukan called on Tuesday for bolstering cooperation with Egypt in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy.
Speaking to MENA, Toukan stressed that Jordan welcomes cooperation with Egypt in the fields of uranium, nuclear research reactors and nuclear power stations.
He noted that experts from the two countries are exchanging visits to share knowledge and expertise in this regard.
Toukan described as 'good' a previously-signed deal by Egypt and Jordan for cooperation in nuclear energy.
The deal, signed in December, calls for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of research for nuclear raw materials, extraction of uranium from phosphate rocks and use of nuclear energy to generate electricity and desalinate water, he said.
Toukan further urged the Arab countries to exchange expertise in the nuclear field, saying that his country welcomes cooperation to that effect.
